Seebruck is a district in the municipality of Seeon-Seebruck, which was formed in
1980 by the three districts Seeon, Truchtlaching, and Seebruck. Seebruck has about 1550
inhabitants and holiday accommodation for more than 900 guests in hotels and B&Bs of
all categories. Seebruck is situated on the northern shores of Lake Chiemsee, also termed the 'Bavarian Sea'. Due to its unique geographical location, 1500 ft above sea-level, and its unspoilt surroundings, Seebruck has now been a popular spa for several decades. Roman ruins and finds that have been excavated in Seebruck and its surroundings are now exhibited in the museum of Bedaium. This Roman settlement of Bedaium was the Early Christian precursor of Seebruck. On the site of the former Roman fort you will now find the Church of St. Thomas and St. Stefan, constructed in 1474 and 1478 by the locally renowned architect Meister Jörg from Schnaitsee. Standing in Seebruck at the shore of Lake Chiemsee ans looking south, the impressive vista of the "Bavarian sea" is right on front of you. There is an endless choice of aktivities for visitors to choose from, making sure that you will spend the "nicest weeks of the year" in an active, pleasurable and relaxing way. There are many possibilities to cycle, to walk, to ride, to play tennis or to try one of the various water-sports. Apart from rafting on the river Alz, many visitors come to Seebruck for swimming, wind-surfing or sailing. Those who prefer to take walks or to do cycle tours are also well-catered for in Seebruck. Signposted paths invite you to explore the surrounding area. Walk along the river Alz to one of the high-moor bogs or of the many lakes - wherever you fancy takes you, you will experience a varied landscape and a unique flora. Seebruck also offers you the opportunity to take a trip with the "white fleet" ships to visit other places like Chieming, Prien, Gstadt or the charming islands Frauenchiemsee and Herrenchiemsee with its impressive castle built by the famous Bavarian king Ludwig II. There is much on offer for our visitors. We have a wide choice of accomodation in all categories: hotels, guest-houses, B&Bs, farms and self-catering apartments. The local Tourist Information Centre is more than happy to assist you in finding the right place to stay and to make bookings for you. You can reach Seebruck via the A8 motorway or on one of the more scenic roads which make travelling already a pleasurable experience. We hope you have become curious about Seebruck and would be very happy to welcome you soon.
